Tesco Bank and Clubcard Pay‪+‬ 4+

Beautifully Simple & Informative

One of the stand-out features of this app is the simple and effective way it displays the vital info that you (probably) want. I.e, once logged in (via Touch ID, brilliant feature) you are taken straight to a screen that displays; Account Balance, Min. payment required & Payment Due Date.

Everything you need, right there. And if that wasn’t simple enough, just three options on the bottom for moving money, viewing statements etc.

I love using this app as within seconds I can quickly check when I’m due for a payment, or even better, very quickly be able to pay off what I need, when I need to. Praise to the developers, this app makes money management less of a headache than it has been in the past with other banking apps (we all know one terrible one, right?)

Not a great app

I have had the Tesco Clubcard Pay plus card and app for just over a month. Have had several issues with the app and card.
1/ declined transactions - despite having sufficient funds on the card several transactions have been declined by Tesco bank. This is transactions online and using Apple Pay. Reported this to customer service but they are unable to explain why this happens or stop it happening in the future.
2/ security is important I know but the security used on the app is very clunky. If you do a transaction online you normally have to authorise them via the app. You have to enter your password then your passcode then your password again. Not exactly designed for speedy online transactions. On Several occasions I have done this and authorised the transaction only to go back to the website to find the transaction has been declined by Tesco bank!
To begin with I thought great card and app but these problems keep occurring. My enthusiasm is for the card etc is waning. Also I find it frustrating when I call customer service and they start the conversation with the presumption that you have done something wrong, or the card is faulty or you have cancelled the transaction. Not sure how declined by Tesco Bank can be translated by customer service to mean cancelled by customer, or customer error.

Get your act together!

There are way too many overlapping products with the name Tesco on and not enough understanding by your customer service people regarding all these competing products and services. Case in point, Tesco Clubcard Pay Visa debit card, is this a Tesco Grocery product or is it a banking product, the answer can change depending on which customer service rep you’re speaking to and if it’s a full moon, the easy answer? no one at Tesco has the slightest clue! Anyway the problems abound but my latest beef is that this new Tesco Clubcard Pay Visa debit card cannot be added to Apple Pay, in this despite the fact that your welcome emails for the product clearly state that it can and the fact that it’s possible to add it as a payment method for Tesco Groceries and other retailers, but yet again, no one at Tesco grocery or Tesco bank has a clue what’s going on! Get a grip and sort yourselves out, stop mixing and matching products with no clear site to customer service, you claim to be and may well be the largest supermarket chain in the UK, we know that you are definitely not the largest bank but you’ve got supposedly a wealth of experience at customer service, how is it that your customer service people know nothing about this and other various products!? pleeeease!
