Back in the 1960s, the automotive industry was in an interesting state. The constant innovation was hard for some auto makers to keep with, and started an arms race when it came to performance. Ford stepped up to the race-dominating Enzo Ferrari with a direct target on the brand’s back, ultimately putting the smack down on the Italian automaker with a 1, 2, 3, finish in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. To remind Ferrari of the floor mopping with the GT40, the Ford GT was released in the mid-2000s to offer drivers a feel of that racing history. At the upcoming Mecum’s Dallas auction, taking place September 7-10, there will be several Ford GTs up for grabs, and here are some of those highlights.
