Clean and Mean: This 1988 Mustang LX Has A ProCharged Small Block Ford Under The Hood and Not A Hair Out Of Place

Clean and Mean: This 1988 Mustang LX Has A ProCharged Small Block Ford Under The Hood and Not A Hair Out Of Place

Not all drag cars are created equal. Sounds like a simple thing to say but machines like this 1988 Mustang LX remind us of that every once in a while. This car is not only bad fast (or should be) it is also impeccably clean, neat, and well engineered. Built back in 2010 and never competitively raced (the photos from New England Dragway lead us to believe it was at least shaken down) the Ford has a ProCharged Ford small block based on a Dart block topped with Yates heads that have been worked.

The big deal is the Prouahrger F3A that’s force feeding this little beast. How much power does the engine make? Maybe 1,500hp on the soft side? An F3 is not a kid’s toy, that is for sure and the car really was put together with the best of the best. Don Walsh the noted pro mod racer did the tuning on the engine.

Along with all the good engine stuff, the unique thing about the car is that all of the street functions from the lights to the horn and turn signals are not only there, they all work! The intention of the owner was apparently to have an ultimate street/strip or True Street style car.

The overall cleanliness of this car is what has us drooling. You can tell that ever detail was considered when the time came for final assembly. The engine bay looks as organized as a surgical tray in the operating room, the interior so clean you’ll have to take your shoes off before entering. The 25.2 certified cage welded into a chromoly sculpture.

Forgive us for a second…we’re in love. Oh and the way this car sits with those 315s on the back. Good gravy.

RacingJunk Find: This 1988 Mustang is as bad ass as bad ass can be!

Sweet ride! A little out of my budget (OK alot), but would be afraid to race such a rolling sculpture. Perfection bar none.

What the hell is a Proahgrer F3A? Oh, yeah, I heard of those! The Yugo SS, a Soviet Bloc only offering, never exported! A friend has one on the autonomous island he lives on. I was there last night! BUSTIN’ BALLS! Sweet Ride! Ditto on the budget, alas!
