This 1970 Dodge Super Bee is offered for sale here on Craigslist. Located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, it comes with a clean title and an asking price of $15,000. A big thanks goes out to Barn Finder Kellerg for bringing this one to our attention.
The seller states that this car is running, but that it is in need of restoration. Obviously the restoration on the outside of this Dodge has been commenced, but we have no real idea what has been done under that grey primer. It all appears to be quite straight but there are a few imperfections that would need investigating and addressing before you proceeded any further. There appears to be a couple of small imperfections on the hood that indicate that preparation may not have been perfect. The car was originally finished in B5 Bright Blue Metallic, which would have looked stunning. It doesn’t appear that the front or rear glass has been removed during the work to date, so that may also need checking. There are a number of shots of the underside of the car and it does looks to be solid underneath but once again only a close inspection will confirm this. The rear trim around the tail-lights also appears to be wrong given that it carries an R/T badge, and the way that it has been attached to the car is a pretty unsightly job. That R/T badge also calls attention to the fact that this Dodge appears to be missing the very distinctive Super Bee badges.
There’s a bit to be done on the interior, but there are also some very good points in here as well. The original pistol-grip shifter is in place and looks good. It’s hard to see the condition of the dash due to how dark the photo is but the pad appears to be free of cracks. The seats are still in their original white vinyl which must have set off really nicely against the blue exterior. The seats look quite good and should respond well to a good clean. Unfortunately the door trims have been cut to fit after-market speakers which also make me worry about what we can’t see on the dash. The vinyl on the door trims looks quite tired and will need to be replaced along with the trim in the rear passenger area.
Under the hood rests the original 383ci V8 backed by the original 4-speed manual transmission. We know that the car runs, but the seller is fairly sparing in his description of it. It all looks pretty clean under here although there are some non-original components such as the air cleaner and valve covers that should be replaced if you were considering a faithful restoration.
At first glance there appears to be a bit of potential in this Super Bee, but there are a few issues that need to be addressed. The car looks quite solid underneath, but the sight of that rear trim being attached to the car with what looks like a pile of rusty screws is a bit unnerving. It makes me question the quality of any other work performed on the body. I have no doubt that if it were to be restored to its original color it would be a stunning looking car. Would you take it on, or do you have too many doubts?

You know you’re getting older (and maybe wiser) when back in the day you thought the front end of these Super Bees were dorky, but now you think they’re sharp looking.
I think with MOPAR prices like they are, this Super Bee has the potential of being a good deal.

Not only are the valve covers just painted, they were shot right on the spot, with overspray on the headers. Wrong x10.
Letting the experts speak…oh that looks like a R/T side badge…maybe to scare off some would be competitors…..run a smaller one on my V/8 Dakota.
Pretty cool car the b5 blue is my favorite color I bet that thing was beautiful before the teenager primered it. Still it would look great in my driveway

I have known more ex street racers who owned super bees than road runners, which seemed odd to me at the time. They always said the same thing about their worked 383’s…almost as fast as the 440 cars, almost…
This would have been my choice between the two cheapies, ain’t no way in the world I’d want that dumb sounding road runner horn in my ride.
I like the RR horns, they’re unique. :P
The seller took advantage of the bodystyle in his photographs as well as the dramatic front and rear end shots.
Leaving the windows up on a hardtop being photograhed for sale is a lost opportunity as the full impact is best seen with all the windows down: clean, sleek, sporty, far more adventurous than a two or four door sedan.

Better looking now than when new. And even better looking than the vaunted 71 Charger with it’s pinheaded roof, overly long front and rear overhangs and narrow side windows. [IMHO: I’ve though the same thing since they came out nearly 50 years ago and don’t understand the love for them].
And especially after the almost perfect previous model.
There is a lot to like with this car. Far better than the rusted out hulks on flat tires that haven’t seen pavement in 30 years sometimes featured on BF.
The RT badge is the wrong size and the crude fastening of the trim around the tail lights isn’t good.
$15,000 seems like a little too much money.
