Picture request, the BEST that a BF wagon's ass can look?
I need to replace my daily driver with a wagon or Baja.
I just don't have the proper combination of time, skills and cashflow to repair my sideswiped SS properly. So it must be sidelined for now (possibly converted to dedicated rallycross car). The fact that my kids are also going on Cub Scout events basically every other week leads me to look at wagons and Bajas.
The major problem is that BF wagons look like crap (IMO) from the ass end. Flat and angular, funky lights. I would look at BG wagons/Outbacks but those are OBDII and I have a TON of money/time invested in EJ20G/K setups. Backdating a BG from OBDII to OBDI, in California, is not going to happen. I would need to try and sell all my current stuff and replace it with WRX/STI harnesses, heads, manifolds, etc. Likely at a huge loss.
So post them up.......convince me a BJ wagon can be as presentable going as it was coming.

If you smoke the taillights and center section it goes a long way.

BF's can look great going too. My idea would be a Chargespeed Rear Lip and a BG STI Rear Wing. It's pretty much what I'm going to do. If the Rear Wing is too long for your preference, even a stock BG Wing would look great. As I have yet to order the parts, here are some links to photos so you can get an idea:

Correct; More the White Back-up Lights though oddly enough. I have several friends that have been pulled over for going all Red or blacking out their Tails.Redlined wrote:Some states require Amber turn signals.

So then leave the reverse lights. I'm having a hard time believing red turn signals are illegal when so many cars come stock with them, including both of my parents' cars.Jester808 wrote:Correct; More the White Back-up Lights though oddly enough. Yeah I highly doubt you'll be pulled over for all red tail lights. I see stock cars all the time with red tail lights and no clear or orange blinkers.
How do you make them all red like that white legacy has? Spray them with VHT nightshades? Do you spray the whole lens or just the parts that are orange/clear?

Niteshades is only smoked IIRC, but if they have a red then sure.kimokalihi wrote:Yeah I highly doubt you'll be pulled over for all red tail lights. I see stock cars all the time with red tail lights and no clear or orange blinkers.

You can use model paint, Testors Candy Apple Red is what most people use, but you'll need to use a UV resistant clear coat or it will fade, mine faded in a year with wheel clear coat(I already had it)
Or VHT makes "Anodized Color Coat" which is supposed to give an anodized metal look when sprayed on bare metal, but it's just transparent paint. I used it after the model paint faded but I only had it on for maybe a year before selling the car. It's harder to get nice finish on it, but you can't tell unless your face is right up to it anyway.
You can either spray just the part you want to color and try to match it or you can spray the whole thing, spraying the whole thing avoids the line where the paint stops though so it looks more OEM. Just spray even light coats and don't worry about getting everything at once or it won't be even.
Then you can wetsand/polish if you want to.

I think the white stripe below the window but above the taillight panel needs to dissappear. Anyone with photoshop skills want to take a stab at it?

^ haha that made me laugh out loud! PAINT FTW
Thats a nice wagon butt! I like the spoiler and Id prolly tint the rear strip and than tint the tails and leave the back ups clear
Phyrra what about that rear strip white? So its just solid on the hatch

I'm replacing my center reflector with a strip of aluminum. I think it will look good with the dark blue.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
