Black over Graphite: 1989 Jaguar XJ-S
This 1989 Jaguar XJ-S (VIN SAJNY5844KC161036) looks great in black over black with OEM snowflake wheels and no tack-on aftermarket fender trims as were commonly fitted from the dealer. The seller describes the car as very well maintained, accident free, and garage kept, adding that it drives very well. Mileage is given as 47k, and the claimed all original interior shows just as well. Find it here on eBay in Palm Beach, Florida for $12k OBO.
Says the seller: “The paint and body are in pristine condition with no dings, dents or scratches.” A clean Autocheck is included and the ad claims no prior accidents. Though there’s some very dark tint on the windows along with big DOT mandated bumpers, the car’s inherently good looks still shine through. We don’t often see these in black, and in combo with excellent OEM wheels and the rare factory sunroof, this one really stands out.
Things are said to remain all original inside, and Connolly hides still show very well. We dig the monochrome treatment, nicely broken up here by wood trim, all of which appears to be in very nice condition with no serious cracking, peeling, chipping or other issues common to higher mileage examples. The car also looks to retain its factory head unit, consistent with the seller’s claims of originality.
The ad says that the car drives “like a dream,” briefly noting a history of good maintenance, though no further details are provided. These 5.3 liter SOHC V12’s are revvier than Jag’s traditional XK six-cylinder, and that rat’s nest of plumbing and wiring is completely standard.
Though a thorough specialist PPI should be considered mandatory, all signs point to the car being a good one.
