No Reserve: 1930 Chevrolet Series AD Universal Coach

This 1930 Chevrolet Series AD Universal is a two-door coach that is said to have been refurbished approximately 15 years ago before it was purchased by the seller in 2013. The car is finished in red with black fenders and accents over red cloth upholstery, and power comes from a 194ci Stovebolt inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes four-wheel mechanical drum brakes, 19″ wire wheels, chrome bumpers, a driving lamp, a winged radiator cap, a steel sun visor, a black vinyl roof panel, and a single taillight. Service performed in preparation for the sale reportedly included a resealing of the fuel tank as well as a carburetor service and an oil change. This 1930 Chevy is now offered at no reserve with literature and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.

The body is said to have been repainted in its current red with black fenders and body accents during the refurbishment using acrylic enamel paint. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, an offset yellow-lens driving lamp, a winged radiator cap, a steel sun visor, a black vinyl roof panel, and a single taillight. Paint cracks can be viewed in the gallery.

Body-color 19″ wire wheels wear chrome Chevrolet-branded hubcaps, and they are mounted with bias-ply whitewall tires. A matching spare wheel is stowed beneath a black vinyl cover out back. The Series AD rode on a 107″ wheelbase and features semi-elliptical leaf springs at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel mechanical drum brakes.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a painted steel dash housing an 80-mph barrel-type speedometer, an ammeter, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, a few of which were added under the seller’s ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 194ci Stovebolt inline-six was factory rated at 40 horsepower and was reportedly rebuilt under prior ownership. A carburetor service and an oil change were performed in preparation for the sale, and the seller recommends a rebuild of the fuel pump. Engine stamping 1983593 can be seen in the gallery, and the last six digits match the chassis stamping.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission that is also said to have been rebuilt under prior ownership. The fuel tank was resealed in preparation for the sale.
