This Skippy pedal car was produced by the Gendron Iron Wheel Company of Toledo, Ohio, prior to WWII as part of the American National Corporation. It features steel bodywork finished in navy blue and cream. Other styling attributes include solid rubber tires and a chrome windshield surround, flying hood ornament, hubcaps, and bumpers. This Gendron pedal car was purchased by the seller in 2020, and it is now offered at no reserve in Richmond, Texas, with a bill of sale.
The Gendron Skippy pedal car was produced in the style of a late-1930s “sharknose” Graham. The steel roadster bodywork on this example was refinished under previous ownership in navy blue over cream wheel arches accented by red striping. Features include a silver-painted faux grille, faux headlights, faux folded soft top, and chrome bumpers, side strips, a windshield surround, and a flying hood ornament. Imperfections in the paint and body are shown up close in the gallery below.
Cream-color steel wheels are accented by red striping and wear chrome hubcaps and solid rubber tires.
The cockpit features a black three-spoke steering wheel, a red faux-leather-upholstered seat, and a faux instrument panel.
The rear wheels are driven by twin foot pedals, which can also provide braking input.
