This 1947 Chrysler Town & Country convertible is finished in green with ash wood-framed mahogany veneer panels over green leather with tan cloth inserts and has remained in the selling dealer’s collection for the last 17 years. Power comes from a 323ci L-head inline-eight paired with a four-speed Fluid Drive semi-automatic transmission. Features include a power-operated tan soft top, driving lamps, a driver-side spotlight, an AM radio, a clock, and a heater. This New Yorker-series Town & Country is now offered in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a jack, service records, and a Washington title.
Delivered from the factory in Heather Green (4), the car features ash wood-framed mahogany veneer panels as well as chrome bumpers, driving lamps, an antenna, a driver-side spotlight, and a replacement power-operated tan soft top that was installed under previous ownership. Corrosion on the front bumper and hood can be seen in the gallery along with paint loss on the cowl, scratches on the right quarter panel, and other imperfections.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels wear chrome Chrysler hubcaps and trim rings, and they are mounted with Universal whitewall bias-ply tires. A spare wheel is stowed in the trunk. The C39 Town & Country rode on a 127.5″ wheelbase and featured an independent front suspension with coil springs as well as a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic drums at all four corners. A brake fluid leak is noted by the selling dealer.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in green leather with tan cloth inserts. Equipment includes a Comfort Master heater, an AM radio, a clock, and a locking glovebox. Replacement tan carpets were installed under previous ownership.
The green three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 110-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles, approximately 1,800 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 323.5ci L-head straight-eight features five main bearings as well as a single-barrel carburetor for a factory rating of 135 horsepower. An oil leak is noted by the selling dealer.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed M-5 Fluid Drive semi-automatic transmission.
