This 1948 Studebaker M16 is finished in red over brown vinyl upholstery and is fitted with a wood-floor flatbed and steel side panels. Power is provided by a 226ci Commander inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed rear axle. The truck spent time in California and has reportedly remained with the seller’s family for approximately 45 years. A refurbishment in 1980 is said to have included repainting the body and converting the electrical system to 12 volts. Equipment includes a split windshield, heavy-duty springs, a two-speed rear axle, a cowl vent, and an under-dash heater. This M16 flatbed truck is now offered at no reserve with a factory parts catalog, manufacturer’s sales literature, a reproduction build sheet, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.

The truck was refinished in red with black fenders and bumpers circa 1980. The bed side panels are painted with “Clerici & Sons Trucking” graphics, and features include side steps, dual mirrors, rear anti-sail panels, a wood-floor bed, and a bed-mounted cargo box. The left windshield wiper has reportedly been converted to electric drive and is inoperative, and the seller notes a chip in the left windshield panel, chips in the paint on the bedside panels, rust on the bed support crossmembers, and that the paint is thin in places.

The 20″ steel wheels are finished in red and are wrapped in a mixed set of older tires that show cracks in the sidewalls. The seller notes that the paint is peeling from some of the wheels and that rust is present on the panels covering the brake components.

The cab features a brown vinyl bench seat along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and a black floor mat. Features include crank windows, vent windows, dual horns, a heater, a cowl vent, and a fire extinguisher. An emergency flasher capability has reportedly been added to the turn signal system, and the seller notes that the heater core leaks.

The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 250 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 226ci Commander inline-six features a single downdraft carburetor and an oil-bath air cleaner. A replacement fuel tank is mounted to the frame rail behind the left door, and an electric fuel pump is said to be mounted but not plumbed into the fuel system. The seller notes that the choke must be activated in order for the engine to stay running and that oil seeps from the oil pan and the oil pump.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed rear axle. The rear axle speed control has reportedly been converted to electric operation, and the seller notes that the shift control motor drips oil.

The numbers shown on the engine pad, the chassis tag, and the body tag correspond to the numbers listed on the reproduction build sheet produced by the Studebaker National Museum that is included in the sale.

The truck is titled by its engine number, 3M61811. A redacted photo of the current title is provided in the gallery, along with photos of the chassis tag, and serial number.
