LS3-Powered 1949 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window Pickup

This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 pickup was acquired by the seller in 2017 and subsequently modified and refurbished. Work included fitting a TCI Engineering chassis, replacing body panels, repainting the truck in green, reupholstering the cabin in gray leather, and installing a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 and a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a Currie 9″ rear axle, 17″ Billet Specialties wheels, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, coilover suspension, a red oak wood bed floor, a BeCool radiator, tubular headers, and a custom exhaust system with electronic cutouts along with Vintage Air climate control, Classic Instruments gauges, a Lokar shifter, power windows, a Viper alarm system, and an Antique Auto AM/FM radio linked with Kenwood speakers. This modified 3100 pickup is now offered with build photos, literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The 3100 pickup body rides on a TCI Engineering chassis and the truck was refinished in PPG metallic green after the installation of custom fender aprons and a recessed firewall. The side vent door and cowl louvers were shaved, and bedsides without stake pockets were installed. Additional equipment includes H4 headlights, chrome bumpers and grilles, and a red oak wood bed floor with stainless-steel runners as well as Newport Engineering windshield wipers, a drop-down tailgate, and dual exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 17″ Billet Specialities wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires. The truck is equipped with power-assisted steering, adjustable coilovers, and front and rear sway bars. Braking is handled by red-finished Wilwood calipers over cross-drilled and slotted rotors.

The cabin features a bench seat trimmed in gray leather with pleated inserts complemented by a color-coordinated headliner, sun visors, and door panels. The metal dashboard is refinished in gray, and additional equipment includes black wool carpeting over sound-deadening insulation, Vintage Air climate control, a Lokar floor shifter, power windows, a Viper alarm system, shoulder belts, and an Antique Auto AM/FM radio linked with Kenwood speakers.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River tilt column and frames a Classic Instruments 140-mph speedometer and a combination gauge with readouts for coolant temperature, voltage, fuel level, and oil pressure. A matching Classic Instruments Rocket Tach tachometer is mounted in the center of the dashboard. The replacement six-digit mechanical odometer shows 460 miles, and the total mileage is unknown.

The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 is equipped with a custom air intake system and polished front accessories. Additional equipment includes an aluminum BeCool radiator, a 16″ electric puller fan, and a Rick’s Tanks fuel tank with a 2012 Camaro-sourced fuel pump as well as a Ron Francis XP-66 wiring kit, tubular headers, a Flaming River battery disconnect switch, and a custom exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers and electronic cutouts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Lokar-shifted 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission, a 3.5″ aluminum driveshaft, and a Currie 9″ rear axle that is reportedly fitted with a Detroit Trutrac differential and 3.50:1 gearing.
