No Reserve: 1949 DeSoto Deluxe Club Coupe

This 1949 DeSoto Deluxe Club Coupe is powered by a 237ci inline-six paired with a column-shifted Fluid Drive transmission. Finished in gray over striped gray upholstery, the car is equipped with body-color 15″ wheels, hubcaps, whitewall tires, woodgrain-style interior trim, and a push-button AM radio. The selling dealer acquired the car in December 2023, and subsequent work is said to have involved repairing the radiator, the oil-return line, and some wiring as well as replacing the coil, rebuilding the distributor, bleeding the brakes, and changing the oil. This S13 DeSoto is now offered at no reserve in New York with manufacturer’s literature, shop manuals, a superseded Ohio title issued in 1982, and a Florida title that describes the vehicle as a 1949 Chrysler two-door.

The car was finished from the factory in Thunder Gray (335), and the seller states that it was repainted in 2002 but the engine compartment was not. Features include chrome bumpers and trim, rear-fender stone guards, a hood ornament, a split windshield, and dual side mirrors.

Body-color 15” steel wheels wear chrome DeSoto-logo hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone FR721 whitewall tires, which the seller states have flat spots from lack of use. A spare with a bias-ply tire is located in the trunk. The brake fluid was bled and refilled in preparation for the sale.
