This Studebaker Pickup got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1950 Studebaker pickup began life as a 1/2-ton 2R5 model and it underwent a custom refurbishment following its purchase in 1982 by former racer, team owner, and NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Allison. Modifications included the installation of a 3.8-liter V6, a four-speed automatic transmission, and modified chassis sourced from a Buick Grand National model. The body has been refinished in red with custom flame-accented airbrushed graphics, and equipment includes a Garrett turbocharger, an aluminum radiator, Fox and Hotchkis suspension components, Wilwood disc brakes, 20″ alloy wheels, LED lights, power windows, heated and power-adjustable seats, aftermarket climate control, and a Pioneer stereo. This modified Studebaker pickup is offered on behalf of the current owner with a clean “specially-constructed” North Carolina title.

The body was customized, mounted over a modified Buick Grand National frame, and refinished in red during the build. Flame graphics accent the hood, beltline, and tailgate along with custom airbrushing. Features include LED lighting, hood vents, shaved bumpers, frenched headlights, and flush-mounted taillights.

The seams on the smoothed tailgate have been filled, and the bed features stained wood slats with polished cargo runners along with diamond plate panels mounted to the front and rear of the bed.

US Mags 20″ wheels are fitted with Toyo tires. Wilwood brake calipers are fitted over drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners, and the Grand National-sourced chassis is equipped with Fox dampers and Hotchkis suspension components.

Replacement Classic Instruments gauges are mounted within a painted metal fascia, and the six-digit odometer indicates that 532 miles have been driven since completion of the build. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 was reportedly sourced from a 1987 Buick Grand National and was installed during the build. Additional equipment included a Be Cool aluminum radiator, painted intake and valve-cover treatments, and painted flame embellishments on the air-intake plenum, hood, and firewall. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. An oil change was completed in March 2022 according to the seller.
