5.3L-Powered 1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser

This 1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser was modified during current ownership with a 5.3-liter V8 and 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission equipped with a shift kit and aftermarket torque converter. The car is finished in black and fitted with an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold, an aluminum radiator, MSD ignition, a Wilwood big brake kit, independent front suspension, rear coilovers, a front sway bar, a Restomod Air climate control unit, and a custom audio system. Additional equipment includes a split rear window, rear-hinged rear doors, and Dakota Digital gauges. This Studebaker is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer in New York with build records and Connecticut registration.

The car was refinished in black during previous ownership and features a “bullet-nose” front end. Additional exterior details include chrome bumpers with overriders, reverse-opening rear doors, a hood ornament, a split rear window, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhausts. The exterior lights were replaced and the doors were realigned in 2020. The selling dealer notes imperfections in the paint and chrome.

Satin black-finished 18” steel wheels wear white trim rings and chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 235/65 Linglong Crosswind tires that show 2019 date codes. An independent front suspension kit from Scott’s Hot Rods was installed in May 2019 and rear coilovers, a front sway bar, and a Wilwood big brake kit have also been added. The calipers were replaced and a brake fluid flush was performed in November 2020.

The cabin houses two rows of bench seats that are trimmed in striped fabric along with two-tone door panels and gray replacement carpeting. Sound deadening was added to the floor and trunk, which houses an NVX Audio amplifier. Interior amenities include aftermarket speakers, a Restomod Air climate control unit, a center console with cupholders, a stainless-steel steering column, and lap belts for all occupants.

The 5.3-liter V8 was installed by Austin’s Auto Works in New Milford, Connecticut in 2020. The previously-fitted FiTech fuel injection system was removed and an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold were installed later that year by Redline Restorations of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Additional equipment includes headers, an aluminum radiator with electric fans, an AC Delco camshaft sensor, and an MSD ignition system. Work performed in January 2021 consisted of replacing the fuel pump, spark plugs, and timing gears, chain, and cover.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission that is equipped with a high-stall torque converter and an MSD atomic transmission control module. A custom driveshaft has been added, and Line-X has been applied to the inside of the fenders. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery, along with receipts from the build.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
