This DeSoto Firedome got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1954 DeSoto Firedome Club Coupe is said to have been purchased new from Wagner Auto Sales of Rochester, Pennsylvania for use by the Lincoln Hotel and later spent time in West Virginia prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition. The car is finished in red over black and white interior and powered by a 4.5-liter Firedome V8 paired with a two-speed Powerflite automatic transmission. Equipment includes window visors, dual side view mirrors, chrome bumpers and trim, red wire wheels, whitewall tires, an AM radio, and an analog clock. This Firedome is offered in Maryland with manufacturer’s literature and a West Virginia title.
The body is finished in red with a black roof and features brightwork on the fenders, bumpers, mirrors, window surrounds, and visors. Rust is noted on the rocker panel, lower passenger door, and trunk. Blemishes are visible on the front bumper and various body panels. Paint meter readings are included in the gallery.
Red-painted wire wheels are wrapped in whitewall tires. The car is fitted with drum brakes at each corner.
The front and rear bench seats are trimmed in black and white cloth upholstery with matching door panels. Amenities include an AM radio, a tilt-adjustable steering column, air ventilation, a lockable glovebox, and an analog clock.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays 16k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 4.5-liter V8 produced 170 horsepower and features Firedome-branded valve covers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerflite automatic transmission.
