This 1954 Willys M-170 is a military ambulance that was acquired by the seller from a museum 16 years ago and has been kept in his private collection since. Power is from a 134ci Hurricane inline-four that was overhauled with a replacement short block under current ownership and has been equipped with a waterproof ignition system. A three-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case route power to the rear or all four wheels. The truck is finished in olive drab with stenciled graphics, and equipment includes a canvas top with roll-up sides and plastic windows as well as two stretchers. This M-170 is offered with a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The M-170 was built between the early 1950s and the mid-1960s, and was created by adding 20″ to the wheelbase of the standard M38A. This earlier MD-A example was repainted in olive drab with military-style stenciled graphics under previous ownership and wears a red cross insignia at the rear. Cut-outs in the tailgate accommodate handles for the included stretchers.

Steel military wheels wear Cooper Cross Country tires, and a matching spare is located in the passenger compartment. The truck is fitted with a canvas top featuring side windows that can be rolled down to protect the interior, and a shovel is mounted under the hood. The seller notes that the red graphic on the top, which was designed to alert passing aircraft, is beginning to lift.
