Supercharged LS3-Powered 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Sedan

This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is a two-door sedan example that was acquired by the current owner in 2014 and subsequently modified with a Newman Car Creations chassis, a replacement drivetrain, a repaint, and a custom interior. The car is finished in maroon and white over black leather upholstery and is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LS3 V8 linked to a 4L65 four-speed automatic transmission, a carbon-fiber driveshaft, and a Dana 44 rear end. Additional equipment includes Billet Specialties Monterey 17” wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, independent suspension, power windows, a retro-style digital media receiver, air conditioning, and a dual exhaust system with coated headers. This Bel Air is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean California title.

According to the seller, the body was repainted in Lexus Matador Red Mica and Cadillac White Diamond as part of the build. Exterior details include a “hood bird” ornament, an egg-crate grille, dual side mirrors, and chrome side spears and bumpers.

Billet Specialties 17” Monterey wheels wear spinner-style center caps and are mounted with 245/45 Sumitomo HTR Z5 tires up front and 255/50 Nitto NT555 G2 rubber out back. The car rides on a Corvette-style chassis sourced from Newman Car Creations of Templeton, California, and features independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.

The cabin was customized by Elegance Auto Interiors in Upland, California, and features bench seating trimmed in black leather with red stitching that extends to the door panels. The body-color dash is accented with bright metal trim, and red carpets line the floors. The front seat is power-adjustable, and further appointments include lap belts, power windows, air conditioning, and a retro-style digital media receiver. The battery is located in the trunk behind an upholstered panel.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames Classic Instruments instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 1,900 miles, which is said to represent the distance added since completion of the build. Total mileage is unknown.

The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 is equipped with a Whipple supercharger, polished valve covers, and a Howe aluminum radiator. Dyno test results from October 2021 are presented in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L65 four-speed automatic transmission, a carbon-fiber driveshaft, and a Dana 44 rear end with 3.54:1 gearing, per the seller. Coated four-into-one headers flow into a dual exhaust system, and a stainless-steel fuel tank has been fitted along with an in-tank fuel pump.
