This Pontiac Chieftain got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1957 Pontiac Chieftain is a two-door sedan that is powered by a replacement Pontiac 455ci V8 paired with a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission and was repainted in blue under prior ownership. The engine is said to have been rebuilt after the current owner acquired the car in 2015, and the interior was refreshed with front bucket seats and center console in preparation for the sale. Additional equipment includes 15″ Cragar wheels, front disc brakes, a wraparound windshield and rear window, and Equus gauges. This Chieftain is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Missouri title.

The right-side rocker panel and lower door were repaired before the body was repainted in its current shade of blue as part of a refurbishment completed under prior ownership. Exterior equipment includes a wraparound windshield and back glass, tail fins, Super Chief badging, hooded headlights, and a dual exhaust system. The car does not have side mirrors or windshield wipers, and the seller states that the paint was corrected and some of the chrome trim was re-plated in 2022.

This is a relist after the car was listed on BaT in March 2023 and was withdrawn following vandalism. Bucket seats were subsequently installed and the interior was refreshed, and paint repairs consisted of sanding off spray paint damage and re-clear coating the finish. A leaking fuel pump was also replaced since the last auction.

Chrome-finished 15″ Cragar wheels with faux knock-off spinners wear 225/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. Braking is handled by front disc brakes and rear drums that were reportedly replaced under current ownership. There is corrosion on the wheels.

Bucket seats trimmed in blue cloth upholstery were installed following the last auction, the rear seats and door panels were retrimmed to match, and a center console was installed. Additional equipment includes door panel armrests, lap belts for the front occupants, a floor-mounted gear selector, and a heater.

The blue two-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges for battery status, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. Additional Equus gauges include an 8k-rpm tachometer and readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The seller notes that the factory auxiliary gauges do not read accurately. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 455ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt by Kevin’s Liberty Auto Machine Shop of Liberty, Missouri under current ownership. Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator assisted by electric fans. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission. Underside images are provided in the gallery.
