This Chevrolet Task Force Pickup (1955-1959) got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1958 Chevrolet Apache is a Cameo Carrier pickup reported to be one 1,405 examples produced for the model year. Said to have been originally from Georgia and sourced from Tennessee, the truck underwent a repaint and interior refresh in the 1980s. Power comes from a 235ci inline-six backed by a three-speed manual transmission. This final-year Apache Cameo was recently acquired by the selling dealer and is now offered in Alabama with a clean Tennessee title.
The Task Force pickup was Chevrolet’s successor to the Advance Design trucks and was produced from 1955 until 1959. This is a Cameo Carrier example equipped with a fiberglass-sided bed, a concealed spare tire carrier, and unique trim. Quad headlights are specific to the 1958 models.
According to the seller, a repaint in yellow accented with a black cab roof and bed side trim was commissioned by a previous owner in the 1980s. Painted 15″ steel wheels wear polished beauty rings, chrome hub caps, and Coker Classic whitewall tires.
The body-colored cab features gray upholstery for the bench seat along with black door panel inserts and headliner material. A heater is mounted beneath the passenger-side of the dash, and a retro-style cassette stereo is mounted within the stock dash opening.
The five-digit odometer shows just over 22k miles, with true mileage unknown. The seller notes the speedometer is occasionally inoperative.
The “Thriftmaster” 235ci inline-six features a single carburetor and was factory rated at 145 horsepower. Drive is sent to the rear via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. A general servicing and inspection was performed in preparation for the sale according to the seller.
