1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe

This 1958 Chevrolet Impala is a Canadian-built Sport Coupe that was fitted with a replacement 350ci V8 and TH350 three-speed automatic transmission by the seller following their acquisition in 2020. Additional work during that time involved overhauling the brakes and power steering, reupholstering the interior in tan vinyl and tri-color cloth, and replacing the exhaust and fuel tank. Finished in metallic copper, the car is equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, a heater, a RetroSound stereo, and 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels. This Impala is now offered in Canada with Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

The Impala debuted as the top trim level of the Bel Air lineup in 1958 and featured a pillarless coupe design with quadruple headlights, wraparound front and rear glass, chrome side spears, sculpted quarter panels with faux vents, and polished dual exhaust outlets. This example is finished in metallic copper and was reportedly repainted approximately 25 years ago. Work under current ownership reportedly consisted of refinishing the chrome and replacing the taillight lenses. Paint chips on the right quarter panel are shown in the gallery.

Chrome 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels are mounted with Fuzion HRI front and Racemaster M&H rear tires that measure 245/55. The seller reports that the power-assisted drum brakes and power steering system were overhauled during their ownership.

The cabin features two rows of bench seats that have been reupholstered in tan vinyl with tri-color cloth inserts, and matching door panels were also installed. Replacement tan carpets line the floors, and equipment includes a heater and defroster, an electric clock, and a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth capability. The headliner is said to have been replaced along with the interior lights under current ownership.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. A pair of aftermarket gauges are located below the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 350ci V8 was installed by the seller, and it is fitted with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, and an MSD distributor. The starter, alternator, coolant hoses, accessory belts, fuel pump, and water pump were replaced under current ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheel via a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. A replacement fuel tank and exhaust system were installed under current ownership.

The vehicle does not have a title and is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as the ownership document in Alberta, Canada.
