1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III Convertible

This 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III convertible is one of a reported 3,048 examples built for the model year and is finished in black over red, black, and white upholstery. The car is powered by a 430ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and features include a power-operated white convertible top, a power-retractable rear window, power-assisted steering and brakes, a power-adjustable front bench seat, an automatic headlight dimmer, a push-button Town and Country AM radio, and power door locks and windows. Acquired by the seller in February 2020, this Continental Mark III convertible is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service and maintenance manuals, a sales brochure, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Presidential Black, the car was repainted under prior ownership according to the seller. The white convertible top features a retractable rear window and gold Continental logos on the sail panels, and the hydraulic cylinders and hoses are said to have been replaced under current ownership. Additional details include rear fender skirts, Continental III badging, and chrome bumpers and trim. Convertible top parade covers are included in the sale. The side-view mirror shows wear, the windshield is chipped, and the seller notes that the windshield wipers are inoperative.

Steel 15″ wheels wear polished covers with Continental logos and are wrapped in 235/75 Firestone FR721 whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and power-assisted four-wheel drum brakes.

The cabin features bench seats trimmed in red, black, and white upholstery, along with color-coordinated door panels and black carpets. Amenities include a power-operated front seat, a Town & Country AM radio, an automatic headlight dimmer, an electric trunk release, “Venetian” sun visors, and power door locks and windows. Three of the window motors were reportedly replaced under current ownership. The seller notes that a replacement heater fan switch is fitted.

The two-tone steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, and a clock. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. The odometer cable was replaced in 2020, and total mileage is unknown.

The 430ci V8 was factory rated at 375 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. The carburetor and fuel pump are said to have been replaced since 2020, and an oil change and coolant flush were completed in May 2023.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underbody are provided in the gallery below.
