This Triumph TR3 got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1958 Triumph TR3A was purchased by the seller in 2010, and it was subsequently refurbished and modified. The exterior was refinished in red, the interior was reupholstered in black, and a 2,138cc inline-four sourced from a TR4 model was mated to its four-speed manual transmission. Additional work performed during current ownership included rebuilding the carburetor, overhauls of the braking and suspension systems, and replacement of fuel lines, clutch components, tires, and more as described below. This TR3A is now offered with a black soft top and a Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.

The seller states the exterior was disassembled, body work was performed, and the exterior was refinished in its current red utilizing a catalyzed primer and two-stage urethane paint. Exterior trim includes a chrome grille, dual fender-mounted mirrors, and bumpers. A black soft top is included in the sale, though the seller notes that the car does not come with side curtains; photos of the soft top and curtains are provided in the gallery below.

Silver-painted wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, both of which have been replaced during current ownership. The suspension was refreshed with replacement leaf springs, and the braking system was overhauled with a replacement master cylinder, brake cables, and brake lines.

The front buckets and rear bench seat were reupholstered in black with red piping, and black carpeting in both the cabin and the trunk were replaced by the seller.

The seller fitted a woodgrain banjo-style steering wheel and a replacement woodgrain dashboard, which holds a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays just over 55k miles, of which the seller reports they have added approximately 500 miles; total mileage is unknown.

The 2,138cc inline-four was reportedly sourced from a TR4, and the seller states that the dual SU carburetors were rebuilt and an aluminum radiator was fitted. Additional service included fitting a high-torque starter and replacement of the fuel lines, wiring harness, and horn signal unit.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the seller reports that the clutch components, universal joints, and the slave cylinder were replaced.
