This Volkswagen Beetle (1958-1979) got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1959 Volkswagen Beetle is a European-market example that spent time in Holland prior to being imported to the US in December 1959. The car is said to have remained registered in New Mexico following importation and was acquired by the seller in October 2021. Finished in red over a two-tone gray vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by an air-cooled 1.2L flat-four linked with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a Solex carburetor, 15″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This Beetle is offered with manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, and a New Mexico title in the seller’s name listing it as a 1960 model.

The car is said to have left the factory finished in Indian Red, and the body was repainted under previous ownership. Exterior features include a driver-side mirror, rubber-lined running boards, twin exhaust outlets, chrome bumpers with overriders, and polished side moldings and window trim. Noted flaws are shown in the gallery and include chipped paint as well as a worn driver-side window seal.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a Wolfsburg-crest horn button and fronts an 80-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just under 10k miles, less than 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled 1.2L flat-four features a single Solex carburetor and was factory rated at 36 horsepower.
