26-Years-Owned 1962 Land Rover 88 Series IIA

This 1962 Land Rover 88 Series IIA was acquired by the seller in 1997, and work in 2023 included refinishing the truck in Bronze Green, installing an Exmoor Trim front bench seat, and replacing the Weber carburetor, engine seals, and tires. Power is provided by a 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is equipped with a tan soft top, a roll bar, 16″ steel wheels, Dualmatic locking front hubs, a hood-mounted spare tire, a receiver hitch, a Fairey Capstan winch, and a center-facing rear bench seat. This 88 Series IIA is now offered with spare wheels and parts as well as a clean Florida title in the seller’s name listing the truck as a 1961 model year.

The truck features aluminum body panels that were refinished in Bronze Green in 2023. An Exmoor Trim tan soft top with roll-up windows, a Fairey Capstan winch, a roll bar, and a receiver hitch are equipped. A removable Alpine hardtop will accompany the truck and is pictured in the gallery below.

Steel 16″ wheels wear 235/85 Kumho RoadVenture tires, and a spare tire is mounted to the hood. The truck is equipped with Dualmatic locking front hubs, Rocky Mountain parabolic springs, and Explorer Pro Comp shocks.

The Exmoor Trim front split bench is upholstered in elephant hide grey vinyl, and an inward-facing bench seat is located in the rear cargo area. Interior metal surfaces were painted under current ownership. The seller notes that the horn and windshield wipers have been disconnected. Wear on the tops of the doors is shown in the gallery.

The centrally mounted 75-mph speedometer and the fuel-level gauge are inaccurate, according to the seller, and are joined by an ammeter and readouts for oil pressure and water temperature. The transfer knob for the auxiliary fuel tank is missing. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.

The seller reports that the 2.25-liter inline-four was serviced in 2023 by replacing the Weber carburetor, seals, and gaskets. A one-wire alternator, Pertronix electronic ignition conversion, and a spin-on oil filter are equipped.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The exhaust system has been replaced. Rust is noted on the rear crossmember, and a weld repair has been performed on the front crossmember.
