No Reserve: 1962 Lincoln Continental

This 1962 Lincoln Continental was sold new at Mace Ford in Terra Haute, Indiana and was acquired by the seller in Texas two years ago. The car is finished in pink over black leather and cloth upholstery, and power is from a 430ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes rear suicide doors, polished wheels covers, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, power accessories, and a push-button radio. An oil change was carried out in preparation for the sale along with replacement of the spark plugs, ignition wires, and air and fuel filters. This Continental is offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, shop manuals, a build sheet, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The fourth-generation Continental sedan was produced between 1961-1969 and featured rear-hinged “coach doors.” This example was finished in Teaberry from the factory, and was repainted under previous ownership using a shade described as similar but not an exact match. The seller notes overspray, scratches, dents, and broken rear trim as well as rust in the left front fender, front valance, door bottoms, and trunk lid.

Steel wheels wear polished covers and Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires. The passenger-side door lock is broken, the right rear door requires extra force to close, and the windshield washers are inoperable.

The cabin houses bench seats trimmed in black leather with patterned cloth inserts and matching carpets. Photos showing the floors beneath the latter are provided in the gallery, and equipment operation is demonstrated here and here. The seller notes inoperable air conditioning, intermittent left front and sticky left rear windows, broken power door locks, and a discolored rearview mirror. The cigarette lighters in the rear doors also do not work, and the power adjustment for the front seat functions only to recline the backrest.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 120-mph horizontal speedometer with a five-digit odometer showing 70k miles. Approximately 100 miles were driven by the seller, with the actual total unknown. The wood-accented dash contains a push-button radio in addition to a broken clock. The under-dash pad is missing on the driver’s side.
