1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible 4-Speed

This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder convertible was built at the Willow Run assembly plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and is said to have spent time in Oklahoma before it was acquired by the seller in 2021. The car is powered by a turbocharged 164ci flat-six paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in black over red upholstery. Equipment includes a replacement black convertible top, a louvered rear decklid, quad headlights, and 13″ steel wheels with thin-whitewall tires in addition to a retro-look digital stereo, front lap belts, and an aftermarket center console with cup holders. This Corvair Monza Spyder is offered with a car cover and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished from the factory in Tuxedo Black and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership in 2017. Work performed in 2021 reportedly involved replacing the windshield and hood in addition to repairing the lower door panels. Exterior details include quad headlights, a louvered rear decklid, red pinstriping, and Monza Spyder fender badging along with chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, a replacement black convertible top, and a matching top boot.

Steel 13″ wheels wear bright covers with spider logos and are wrapped in 185/80 Maxxis MA-1 thin-whitewall tires that show date codes from 2020. The car rides on four-wheel independent suspension, while braking is handled by drums at each corner.

The seller states that the interior has been refurbished with components from Clark’s Corvair Parts, and the front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in red vinyl with pleated cloth centers. Appointments include a retro-look digital stereo, replacement front lap belts, wing windows, and an aftermarket center console with dual cup holders.

The red two-spoke steering wheel shows wear and frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by a 6k-rpm tachometer and ancillary readouts for fuel level, manifold pressure, and cylinder head temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller.

The air-cooled and turbocharged 164ci flat-six was reportedly overhauled in 2020, and an electronic fuel pump is said to have been installed. The seller states that various gaskets and seals have been changed under current ownership, and the oil pan was reportedly replaced in December 2022. The engine drips oil, and a spare is housed in the engine bay.
