This Triumph TR4 got away, but there are more like it here.

The 1964 Triumph TR4 was reportedly purchased new in Germany by a US serviceman who imported the car into the US and kept it until it was purchased by the current owner in 2003. The car underwent a multi-year refurbishment completed in 2022 that consisted of rust repair, a repaint in Signal Red, refinishing the frame, re-trimming the interior in tan vinyl, servicing the 2,138cc inline-four, and rebuilding the four-speed manual transmission and Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. Additional work included rebuilding the SU carburetors, overhauling the brakes and suspension, and replacing the wiring harness, clutch, soft top, 15″ wire wheels, and radio. This TR4 is now offered on behalf of the current owner in Pennsylvania with a tonneau cover, a Thor hammer and wooden spinner wrench, service records, refurbishment photos, and a Pennsylvania title in the owner’s name.

The body was stripped and repainted in the factory Signal Red (32) by Triumph Rescue in Bally, Pennsylvania. The floors and rocker panels were replaced at that time, the chassis was repainted, the TR4A-style top framework was refinished, and the soft top and boot were replaced. The bumpers, overriders, and taillight trim were re-chromed, and the exterior hardware, badging, and mirrors were replaced.

Painted wire wheels with knock-off hubs were sourced during the refurbishment and are mounted with 165R15 Michelin XZX tires. A matching spare is stored in trunk. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums, and the system was overhauled with rebuilds of the calipers and wheel cylinders as well as replacement of the master cylinder, pads, shoes, brake lines, and parking brake cable during the refurbishment. The shocks were also replaced, various suspension components were refinished, and urethane bushings were installed at that time.

The cabin was re-trimmed with tan vinyl upholstery on the front seats and door panels. Eastwood insulation lines the floors, firewall, and transmission tunnel, and additional equipment includes replacement carpeting, a refinished wood dashboard, and a Bluetooth-equipped Custom Autosound stereo linked to a set of Polk Audio speakers. Charging ports are mounted below the dashboard, and lap belts have been installed for both occupants.

The Nardi steering wheel frames overhauled Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and an electronic tachometer, while centrally-mounted gauges monitor coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 96k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added since the completion of the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
