1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Bullitt Tribute

This 1967 Ford Mustang is finished in Highland Green and powered by a 390ci FE V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The seller acquired the car in 2015 after the engine installation and paintwork were completed by a prior owner, and has modified it with inspiration from the 1968 fastback seen in the movie Bullitt. Styling cues include a black, ribbed taillight panel, a base 1967 grille, deleted exterior emblems and trim, and a custom leather-wrapped GT500 steering wheel. The car has also been fitted with subframe connectors, traction bars, a 428 Cobra Jet intake manifold and camshaft, an SSBC front disc brake kit, and more. This Bullitt tribute is now offered with an indoor car cover, framed movie posters, show-only “JJZ 109” California black plates, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body was refinished in Highland Green under previous ownership, and retains 1967-style twin quarter panel scoops. The hood and decklid were replaced and painted to match in February 2020 to more closely match the movie car. Bullitt-style details include a hood with integrated turn signal indicators, a black, ribbed rear tail panel, a billet aluminum fuel cap, and a base 1967 grille with the center bar, lights, and emblems deleted.

15″ American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels wear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires sized 215/65 on the front and 235/60 out back. SSBC ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers are fitted on the front and work in conjunction with drums on the rear and a Wilwood tandem master cylinder. Suspension modifications include CalTracs rear traction bars, Hellwig sway bars front and rear, bolted and welded subframe connectors, and Koni red shocks all around.

The interior is trimmed in black and features Scat Classic 1500 bucket seats with headrests, Scat seat adapters and sliders, three-point retractable shoulder belts, and Deluxe trim items including brushed aluminum accents on the dash, door panels, and center console. A headliner console with map lights is fitted along with fold-down rear seats, a vintage-look stereo with iPod and auxiliary connectivity, and removable rear speakers.

The seller commissioned a custom leather-wrapped GT500 steering wheel based on the unit in the Bullitt movie car. Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a center-mounted clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Ancillary gauges are mounted below the glove box.

The original inline-six was removed by a previous owner and replaced with a 390ci FE big-block V8 that was reportedly rebuilt with a .030″ overbore. Additional features include a 428 Cobra Jet intake and camshaft as well as 428 Police Interceptor cylinder heads, a remote oil filter system, a Milodon eight-quart oil pan, a Mallory Unilite distributor, a Powermaster XS Torque mini starter, and a Moroso Battery cut-off switch. The exhaust exits through ceramic-coated JBA long-tube headers, a JBA stainless H-pipe, and a stainless dual-exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch rear end with a Detroit Locker limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
