1967 Land Rover 88 Series IIA

This 1967 Land Rover 88 Series IIA is a left-hand-drive example that was reportedly sold new in Canada and was refurbished prior to the seller’s acquisition in June 2014. Refinished in olive green over black, it is powered by a 2.25-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is equipped with a limestone-colored removable Tropical Roof, 16″ steel wheels, a galvanized front bumper mounted with a Tabor winch, side mirrors, and center-facing rear jump seats. This Series IIA is now offered in Canada with service records from current ownership and a clean Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

The body was reportedly refinished in olive green and limestone under prior ownership. The removable Tropical Roof is designed to allow fresh air to circulate in the cabin, and additional equipment includes a folding windshield, sliding front and rear side windows, door-mounted mirrors, a Tabor winch, and a galvanized-steel front bumper and trim. The rear cargo door striker was adjusted in December 2020. Paint blemishes are shown up-close in the gallery.

Steel 16″ wheels are painted to match the roof and wear 215/85 Michelin LTX A/T2 tires, and matching full-size spares are affixed to the hood and rear door. The front axle is equipped with manually locking hubs, and braking is provided by drums at all four corners.

The interior features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl, along with matching door panels and rubber floor coverings. Four center-facing rear jump seats are covered in gray patterned cloth, and additional features include a cabin heater, cowl vents, a center console with an armrest and cupholders, and aftermarket seatbelts.

The banjo-style steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and sits ahead of a centrally mounted 75-mph speedometer along with gauges for amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 900 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.25-liter inline-four features a Weber carburetor that was installed in December 2020 by TRS Automotive, Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, along with a new choke cable. The water pump was replaced and the distributor was overhauled in May 2015, and the alternator was repaired in June 2015.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The rear differential assembly was rebuilt under current ownership.

The truck’s body plate is stamped with vehicle number 24406639a, and the current Alberta registration lists the VIN as 24406639.
