This Datsun Pickup got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1968 Datsun 520 pickup was acquired by the current owner’s family in 1992 from their neighbor, who bought the truck in 1977. It has reportedly been maintained for the past 27 years by a Nissan-trained technician in the owner’s family and features an overbored 1.3-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Finished in Nissan Blue, the truck was placed into storage following a refurbishment in the 1990s and was recently given a new exhaust, an engine tuneup, fluid changes, and newer tires. This Datsun 520 is now offered on behalf of the current owner with available records, removed original parts, and a clean Tennessee title.

The truck was reportedly repainted in Nissan Blue (567) in the 1990s with the bed removed from the frame for body repair. An additional plate was added to the tailgate, and replacement trim includes the bumper brackets, the hood emblem, and rechromed front and rear bumpers. As depicted in the gallery below, the body now has some rust bubbles with an area of rust-through in the left front inner fender. Scrapes and dings are present, notably in the truck bed, while the windshield and seal are visibly worn. New wipers were fitted this year.

Drum brakes are equipped at each corner, and brake work has included installing a new brake master cylinder, four wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and brake shoes. All four steel wheels were refinished in silver and are wrapped in tires with 2015 production codes. Suspension consists of torsion bars up front plus leaf springs out back, and KYB shocks are installed.

The bench seat was reportedly re-covered and new floor material installed in the 1990s. A Clarion radio is wired to two speakers, although reception is said to be poor. A replacement headliner has been removed and is included. The rearview-mirror plastic has aged, and the removed part is shown in the gallery. Rust-through is noted in areas of the floor at the left front and at the left rear of the cab.

The five-digit odometer shows nearly 97k miles, of which the seller reports that approximately 3k miles have been added over the past 27 years. The speedometer needle has broken off, and actual speed does not register. The seller notes that electrical components including the headlight relay and the voltage regulator have been replaced over the years.

Circa 1994, the truck reportedly received a new clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and release bearing for the four-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-liter inline-four was reportedly rebuilt with a .010″ overbore and is paired with a Weber 32/34 carburetor; the fuel pump was replaced in the 1990s. New parts installed in 2019 included a replacement throttle cable, NGK spark plugs, accessory belts, radiator hoses, battery leads, fluid filters, plus new slave and master cylinders. Provided videos demonstrate cylinder compression and oil pressure.

Further work in 2019 included fluid changes for the engine, transmission, and differential. The exhaust was also rebuilt, and the new system is shown during the seller’s video presentation of the underside, shown above. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.

In addition to available records dating to 1975, parts accompanying the sale include the stock carburetor and air-cleaner housing, carburetor vacuum solenoid, manifold/carburetor preheat sheet metal, throttle-cable cover, pistons, and two wiper arms. There are no outside mirrors mounted on the truck, although two accessory mirrors are included. A test-drive video is shown below.
