1968 Ford Mustang Coupe Golden Nugget Special

This 1968 Ford Mustang is one of 481 Golden Nugget Special models that were produced for the Seattle Sales District in 1968. Golden Nugget Specials were finished in Sunlit Gold paint with black vinyl tops and featured black hood and side stripes as well as a dash plaque and gold-color interior components. This car is powered by a 200ci inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes 14″ wheels, wire-spoke hubcaps, power steering, gold vinyl front bucket seats, and an AM radio. The car was originally sold by Westside Ford, Inc., in Seattle, Washington, and is said to have remained registered to the original owner until her death in 2003. The car was refinished in 2008, and the selling dealer notes that work in preparation for sale included recovering the seats and replacing the fuel sending unit. This Mustang is now offered by the selling dealer in Georgia with a Deluxe Marti report, the window sticker and build sheets, an owner’s manual, historical documents and pictures, service records, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Washington title.

The car left the factory finished in Sunlit Gold and was repainted in 2008. Exterior features include a black vinyl top, black hood and side stripes, chrome bumpers and bright trim, a left-side mirror, and a fender-mounted antenna. A chip on the lower-left side of the windshield is noted along with chips in the paint.

Steel 14″ wheels with wire-spoke hubcaps are mounted with 195/75 thin-whitewall tires.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in gold vinyl. Equipment includes an AM radio, vent windows, and color-coordinated Mustang floor mats. The selling dealer notes that the seats were recovered in preparation for sale. Wear is visible on both door panels.

A plaque affixed to the dashboard indicates that this car is a Golden Nugget Mustang and is stamped with the original owner’s name.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 91k miles.

The car is powered by a 200ci inline-six that was factory rated at 120 horsepower.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed C4 automatic transmission. The selling dealer notes that the fuel sending unit was replaced in preparation for sale.

The Deluxe Marti report indicates the car was originally delivered to Westside Ford and lists factory equipment, including the Gold Nugget Special package. A window sticker, an owner’s manual, build sheets, manufacturer’s literature, historical documents and pictures, and service records are included in the sale.
