This Lotus Europa got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1970 Lotus Europa is a Series 2 example that was purchased by the seller’s late father in May 1976 and has remained in the family’s ownership. It is finished in green over black upholstery and is powered by a 1,565cc Renault inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes 13″ steel wheels with hubcaps, front disc brakes, an aftermarket muffler, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, and electric windows. This S2 Europa is offered at no reserve with spare and removed parts, repair and parts manuals, partial service records, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Royal Blue (L09) and is said to have been repainted in green under prior ownership. Exterior elements include chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets. Paint chips and scratches are present around the car, and additional close-up images are shown in the gallery below.
Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome Lotus-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 155/80 Kumho Solus KR21 tires showing 2008 and 2009 date codes. Paint chipping and corrosion is exhibited on the wheels and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The seller states the dampers have been rebuilt and the tie rods were replaced.
Twin high-back bucket seats are trimmed in black upholstery and accompanied by a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include a wood dash panel, lap belts, and electric windows. Aftermarket speaker grilles are installed on the door panels and blemishes include wear on the carpets, cracking in the wood dash panel, and rips in the headliner upholstery.
A three-spoke steering wheel wears a wrap and frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and centrally-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles and true mileage is unknown.
The mid-mounted Renault 1,565cc inline-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. An aftermarket muffler is fitted and an oil change was carried out in 2020. The seller states that the throttle cable is sticky.
