1970 Pontiac Firebird Esprit

This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Esprit is finished in yellow over black vinyl and powered by a 400ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include Formula 400 badging, a rear spoiler, a Formula-style steering wheel, a Ram-Air intake hood, an Audiovox AM/FM cassette radio, front disc brakes, 15″ PMD wheels, and polished exhaust outlets. This Firebird Esprit was acquired by the seller in 2022 and is now offered with a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in blue, the body was repainted the current shade of yellow during previous ownership. Exterior features include chrome lower body and window trim, a Ram-Air intake hood, a rear spoiler, mudguards, Formula 400 badges, fog lights, chrome front and rear bumpers, and polished exhaust outlets. Cracks in the finish can be seen on the hood and behind the drip rails, close-up photos of which are included in the gallery.

Steel 15″ PMD wheels feature chrome lips and wear 245/60 Goodyear Eagle ST white-letter tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes.

The cabin features front and rear bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl joined by a color-matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a center console, an Audiovox AM/FM cassette stereo system, door panel storage pockets, floor mats, and crank windows.

The three-spoke Formula steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges housed in a brushed aluminum panel. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 11k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 400ci OHV V8 was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 397 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
