1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV

This 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge is powered by a 400ci Ram Air IV V8 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Cardinal Red over a red vinyl interior. The car was delivered new to West River Motors of Hettinger, North Dakota, and reportedly underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership before being acquired by the current owner in 2016. Equipment includes 15” Rally II wheels, front disc brakes, and Hotchkis tuned shocks and sway bars as well as a hood-mounted tachometer, a rear airfoil wing, quad exhaust outlets, Pontiac-branded rubber floor mats, a tilt steering wheel, and a push-button AM radio with an under-dash eight-track player. This GTO Judge is now offered on dealer consignment in Pennsylvania with an extra set of four wheels and tires, removed suspension components, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

The car’s trim tag indicates that it left the factory finished in Cardinal Red with a Polar White top, and the current owner reports that the car underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership that included repainting the body in Cardinal Red and the underside in black. Features include a rear airfoil wing, “The Judge” and “Ram Air IV” decals and side stripes, a hood-mounted tachometer, dual Ram Air hood scoops, quad exhaust outlets, and bright trim. The 15” Rally II wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums. Hotchkis tuned shocks and front and rear sway bars have been fitted along with replacement springs, and the removed suspension components are included in the sale as well as a spare set of four wheels with Firestone tires.

The cabin features front bucket seats, a rear bench, and door panels trimmed in red vinyl (254) with a color-coordinated padded dashboard. Red carpet is protected by Pontiac-branded rubber floor mats, and other amenities include a center console with a storage compartment and a padded armrest as well as woodgrain dashboard trim and a push-button AM radio with an under-dash eight-track cassette player.

The tilting three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer indicates 4,600 miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 400ci V8 is fed through functional hood scoops and was factory-rated at 370 horsepower in Ram-Air IV trim. Photos of the engine casting numbers and identification stamps are included in the gallery below.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, and the underside is said to have been repainted black under previous ownership. The selling dealer notes that a transmission leak is present and that scrapes are visible on portions of the underside.
