1972 BMW 2002 5-Speed

This 1972 BMW 2002 is said to have been refurbished between 2019 and 2020 and was acquired by the seller in June 2020. The car is finished in red over a Tobacco upholstery and is powered by a replacement 2.0L inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ Style 5 wheels, BavAuto springs, front disc brakes, manually-adjustable Recaro front seats, a Cannon intake manifold, dual Weber carburetors, and a Bosal muffler. Maintenance under current ownership included an oil change, adjustment of the carburetor lines, and replacement of the battery. This 2002 is now offered with a car cover, a battery tender, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The seller states that the body was refinished in Malaga Red under prior ownership as part of the aforementioned refurbishment in 2019 and 2020. Additional work included the installation of a replacement floor pan, glass seals, and chassis rails. The car features pop-out rear windows, round tail lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Silver-finished 15″ Style 5 wheels are mounted with 195/50 Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes along with rear drums, and the suspension is said to feature replacement shocks and bushings as well as BavAuto springs. An alignment was performed in May 2022.

The cabin features manually-adjustable Recaro front seats along with a rear bench upholstered in Tobacco upholstery. The black dashboard panel is said to have been re-wrapped, and amenities include a rear defroster, crank windows, and carpeted floor mats.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 2.0-liter inline-four is equipped with an aluminum radiator, a Cannon intake manifold, and dual Weber side-draft carburetors. The seller states that the wiring harness was re-wrapped and the engine bay, pedal box, and brake booster were refinished prior to installation of the engine. Maintenance performed in preparation for the sale included an oil change in addition to replacement of the battery and adjustment of the carburetor lines.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed transmission that is said to have been sourced from an E21. The car is equipped with a Bosal muffler, and work performed under prior ownership reportedly included replacement of the resonator, hydraulic fluid lines, and primary and secondary clutch cylinders.

A car cover and battery tender are included in the sale.
