This Dodge Dart got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1972 Dodge Demon 340 was purchased new by the seller at Milford Dodge of Milford, Connecticut on November 24, 1971. The car was used as a bracket racer in the 1970s and then was placed in long-term storage until the early 2000s, when it was refurbished and modified. Work consisted of stripping and refinishing the body and subframe, coating the underbody surfaces with bedliner material, and installing a Magnum Force tubular K-member, rack-and-pinion steering, and adjustable front coilovers along with a modified 404ci small-block Mopar R3 V8, a rebuilt 727 three-speed automatic transmission, and a 3.91:1 SureGrip rear axle. The car is finished in gold over black vinyl upholstery, and features include Calvert Racing CalTracs traction bars, subframe connectors, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, American Racing 15″ wheels, Intellitronix digital gauges, and an Alpine CD stereo as well as a Holley 850-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold and cylinder heads, MSD digital electronic ignition components, and TTI tubular exhaust headers. The car was awarded first place in the 1970’s Muscle Car class at the 2021 Houston Autorama show. This modified Demon is now offered with its window sticker, initial purchase documents, manufacturer’s literature, service records, service manuals, historical photos, a removed fender tag, and spare parts including a transmission and rear wheels as well as a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Medium Tan Metallic (HT6), the car is said to have been repainted in the 2000s and features painted black side stripes, hood accents, and side graphics. Features include hood scoops, chrome bumpers, Demon 340 badging, dual mirrors, and polished rectangular exhaust finishers. The decklid badge is missing, and paint and chrome blemishes are shown up close in the photo gallery below. The seller notes that the door jambs and the trunk compartment have not been repainted.

The car has been fitted with a Magnum Force tubular K-member, rack-and-pinion steering, double-adjustable front coilovers, Calvert Racing CalTracs rear traction bars, and subframe connectors. Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers over drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. Front and rear brake-line locks have been fitted.

A ceramic coating was reportedly applied to the piston tops and combustion chambers of the cylinder heads, and the piston sides and all bearings were Line-To-Line coated. Additional features include a Holley 850-cfm carburetor, a Wrangler PowerMate alternator, an Edelbrock intake manifold and cylinder heads, MSD electronic ignition components, an oil cooler, and PolyDyn-coated TTI tubular exhaust headers.
