This Lancia Fulvia got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1972 Lancia Fulvia 1,3S was sold new in September 1972 by Lancia dealer “Svat” in Turin, Italy and is believed to have remained in the area until acquired by the selling dealer and imported to the UK this year. An exterior refurbishment including body/chassis repairs and a repaint was performed from 2013-2014 by Nero Corsa Carrozzeria in Collegno Torino, which has since merged with Lancia, Ferrari, and Maserati specialist La Carrozzeria/Meccanica Aurelia. The correct 1,298cc V4, 5-speed manual gearbox, and other mechanical systems were refreshed at the same time, and the car just passed a UK safety inspection test (MOT) with no issues noted. May 2017 work included changes of all fluids/filters, ignition service, carburetor tuning, and a compression test showing 175-185 psi. Accompanying the sale are original Province of Torino number plates, Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) Identity Certificate, and owner’s manual. This Series II Fulvia is offered with cancelled Italian libretto/registration, and the seller will supply UK papers at no cost to the buyer.

The earlier restoration included bodywork, extensive chassis repairs, and a repaint in the original Ostend Green. Lancia sometimes used places for colors, and this shade is named after a Belgian port city and thought to have been applied to as few as 50 cars. Exterior trim includes Carello main/high beam headlights, Arman wiper arms, and separate rear LANCIA and FULVIA badges first rendered in all caps on 1970-73 Series II cars.

Over 140 restoration photos include details of body fabrication and painting. Metalwork is said to have been completed to a high standard, with filler used only to skim the surface or perfect details.

This video captures a behind the wheel drive, drive-by runs, an engine start, and under-hood view with engine idling/revving. The 14″ slotted steel wheels have Lancia-logo center caps, and were media blasted and repainted. Michelin X radials are mounted all around.

Tobacco vinyl upholstery pre-dates the recent refurbishment, during which only a new headliner was added to a solid and complete interior. Passenger-side seat photos show some now-removed plastic wrap around the tilt mechanism. Solid front cabin floors are found beneath rubber mats as shown in gallery photos. The 5-speed manual with dogleg first gear was standard to Series II and III Fulvias.

Jaeger instruments includes a km/h speedometer, tachometer, and separate fuel, voltage, and oil pressure gauges. Just over 31k kilometers (~19,500 miles) show on the 5-digit odometer, with true mileage unknown. An area of adhesive residue is visible on the wood dash just above the steering column. The drilled two-spoke steering wheel is original spec.

This engine stamping provides the following:

  • 818 303 – correct type for this Series II Fulvia
  • *089112* – unit number 39112, as production reportedly begins with #50000

Lancia engine numbers did not match to chassis at production, but finding them within about 2,000 units (2,074 here) supports the likelihood the car retails its original motor.

This 1298cc V4 is positioned mostly in front of the front axle line and canted at 45-degrees. Fueling comes via just-tuned twin Solex side draft carburetors, a set-up rated at 90-92 hp when new. A compression test completed by the seller shows:

  • 184 psi – cylinder 1
  • 180 psi – cylinder 2
  • 175 psi – cylinder 3
  • 185 psi – cylinder 4

The Suspension was dismantled, cleaned, repainted, and reassembled with new bushes as part of the 2013 refurbishment. Series II cars benefit from larger Girling calipers and pads, replacing an earlier Dunlop system. A solid trunk floor and fuel tank are visible under a fitted rubber mat. The boot also houses a tool bag with Lancia/Fiat-stamped spanners, a Battaini scissors jack, and matching spare steel wheel with Michelin tire.

The original Fulvia 2nd Series owner’s manual has early service entries as shown in the gallery. Also included are original keys and a fob from Turin-based “Svat”, the original selling dealer. The seller offers to help facilitate shipping to the buyer, including no-charge delivery to Southampton or Felixstowe ports, which serve most US destinations.
