This Opel GT got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1972 Opel GT was a workplace competition prize won by the original owner and has since remained registered within their family. The car is finished in yellow over beige vinyl upholstery and powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It also has 13″ steel wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, a cabin heater, and a push-button Delco Kadett AM radio. This first-generation Opel GT is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with spare parts, partial service records, and a clean Illinois title.

No Reserve: Single-Family-Owned 1972 Opel GT 4-Speed

The Opel GT was styled in-house and its steel body was built by French contractor Brissonneau & Lotz, with drivetrain installation and final assembly completed by Opel in Germany. This example came finished from the factory in Chrome Yellow (446) and received bodywork and a subsequent repaint several decades ago. The exterior also features functional air scoops in the nose and an exposed fuel-filler cap along with aftermarket black vinyl stripes and “1900 GT” graphics. The pop-up headlights are stuck in the open position, there are paint blemishes around the body, and pitting is visible on the front bumper. A spare rear window and set of headlight assemblies are included in the sale.

This is a relist after the vehicle was previously sold on BaT in January 2024 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner’s participation on BaT has been restricted and their buyer’s fee was not refunded.

The bucket seats are trimmed in beige vinyl with matching door panels and are joined by black carpeting. The two-passenger cabin is also fitted with a heater, a VDO clock, a push-button Delco Kadette AM radio, an aftermarket shift knob, and shoulder belts. The dashboard, steering wheel rim, and left armrest are cracked, while tears are present in the headliner and on the driver-seat cushion upholstery.
