This Plymouth Fury got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1973 Plymouth Fury Custom Suburban wagon is said to have been sold new by Burnside Chrysler Plymouth in East Hartford, Connecticut. The seller acquired the car in 1996 out of a Connecticut salvage yard, and the subframe was subsequently replaced and quarter-panel rust was repaired. Powered by a 360ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in beige over beige vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, a dual exhaust system, 15″ Rallye wheels, air conditioning, tilt steering, an AM/FM radio, a power-operated rear window, and a rear air deflector. This Fury is now offered with Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Sahara Beige (HL4), the car was repainted under prior ownership, reportedly following replacement of the right-front fender and door. Rust in the quarter panels was repaired under current ownership and the left-front fender was replaced before further paintwork was conducted. Features include chrome bumpers with front overriders and rear steps as well as a two-way tailgate, a power-operated rear window, a rear air deflector, front vent windows, side moldings, Brougham badging, and fender-mounted turn-signal monitors. The tailgate bears a dealership emblem from Burnside Chrysler Plymouth. The seller notes mismatching paint.

The 15″ Rallye road wheels are wrapped in 235/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The rear-leaf-spring rubber isolators have been replaced with solid mounts.

The six-passenger cabin houses seats trimmed in Parchment vinyl, which is complemented by matching door panels, a beige headliner, woodgrain trim, and brown carpeting. The split front bench seat offers dual fold-down center armrests. An AM/FM radio is located in the dash. The air-conditioning system has been converted to R134a refrigerant and has a leak. The cruise control and the clock are inoperable, some stitching on the driver seat is loose, and the dashpad exhibits cracks.

The two-spoke steering wheel has a rim-blow horn, is attached to a tilting column, and sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and secondary gauges. The five-digit odometer appears to show 92k miles, approximately 17k of which were added under current ownership.

The 360ci V8 has been updated with a four-barrel carburetor, chrome Mopar Direct Connection valve covers, and a 2½” dual exhaust system with an H-pipe.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The subframe reportedly was replaced with components from a 1971 Fury hardtop sedan under current ownership. Corrosion is noted on underbody components.

The fender tag indicates that the vehicle is a six-passenger 1973 Fury III Custom Suburban station wagon (PH45) that left the factory equipped with a 360ci V8 featuring a two-barrel carburetor (E57) along with a light-duty three-speed automatic transmission (D34). The tag also reveals that the car was originally finished in Sahara Beige (HL4) over bench seats upholstered in Parchment vinyl (G8L3) and was scheduled to be built on December 12 (C12) at the factory in Belvidere, Illinois (D).

The production broadcast sheet is shown above.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration certificate, which identifies the car’s usage type as “Antique”.
