This BMW E9 Coupe got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1974 BMW 3.0CS coupe is said to have been kept by two long-term owners in California prior to the seller’s 2013 acquisition, and was subsequently refurbished and modified by Vintage Sports & Restoration of Bedford, New Hampshire. The work included replacement of the original drivetrain with a fuel-injected 3.5-liter inline-six and a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox, a repaint in the original color of Sienna Brown Metallic, European-style appearance modifications, new tan upholstery, audio and air conditioning updates, installation of Alpina-style wheels, and more. The seller has driven the car 3k miles as well as having a fuel line replaced in March 2020. This E9 is offered with an owner’s manual, reproduction labels, a blue California license plate, build receipts and photos, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The body was disassembled and media-blasted, with previous repairs on the doors, tail panel, and front fenders corrected. The side marker holes were filled, while those for the US-spec bumpers and license plate lamps were relocated. The body was repainted in the original hue of Sienabraun-metallic (009) and fitted with new seals, slimmer European bumpers, Italian-market driving lights and turn signals, and Hella H4 headlamps as well as a new windshield and washer pump motor. Pictures of the work in progress and close-ups of the resulting finish can be seen in the gallery below.

Staggered Alpina-style 16″ wheels are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires measuring 205/55 in front and 225/50 out back. Suspension work reportedly included installation of new Bilstein HD shocks and Carl Nelson lowering springs on reduced-height pads, while replacement steering components include the rack bushings. A refurbished brake booster and master cylinder were fitted along with new lines.

The cabin features new tan covers over refurbished stock seats. A replacement headliner, carpets, and underlayment were also fitted. The air conditioning system received a new compressor and lines as part of a conversion to use R134a refrigerant. The seller states that interior lights, gauges, switches, and the cigar lighter remain functional. Spare leather-wrapped and wood shift knobs are included in the sale.

A Nardi steering wheel frames a VDO combination gauge, tachometer, and speedometer, the latter of which houses a five-digit odometer showing 58k miles. Approximately 3k have been driven by the seller, and actual mileage is unknown. The dash was refurbished with refinished wood veneers, the instruments serviced as needed, and the analog clock converted to quartz movement. The RetroSound stereo features a satellite radio receiver and Bluetooth.
