Single Family Owned 1976 Chrysler Cordoba

Bid to $2,000 on 10/12/18comments-icon131Comments
Single Family Owned 1976 Chrysler Cordoba

This 1976 Chrysler Cordoba is described to be a largely unmodified example that was purchased new by the seller’s parents and has remained in his family since. The car reportedly remained garage stored and unused for a number of years, and the seller has added less than 4,000 miles since taking ownership in 1992. Power comes from a range-topping 400ci V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and the odometer shows 48k miles though the seller says it has rolled once. This Cordoba won several awards over the last few years at regional meets including the Bloomington Gold Survivor Show, and was featured in the December 2010 issue of Hemmings Motor News. It is now being offered with the original window sticker and license plates, owner’s manual, service manuals, factory literature, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in (MU6) Light Chestnut Metallic paint that shows a few scratches, dings, paint bubbles, and other imperfections detailed further in close-up photos. A matching landau roof was also optioned while factory steel wheels are shod in a set of 235/70R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

Other notable flaws include a crease in the right front fender, an area of paint touch up on the passenger door, corrosion around the bottom of the right rear wheel arch, and peeling chrome on the rear bumper. All the exterior trim, glass, and lighting lenses are reported to remain original to the car.

The interior is finished in tan “Corinthian” leather with brown shag carpets and simulated woodgrain trim on the dashboard. Chrysler’s (A06) Easy Order Package included air conditioning, a landau roof, tinted windows, a tilt steering wheel, remote driver’s mirror, and 3-speed wipers. This car was also optioned with power locks and windows, cruise control, and a rear window defroster as additional equipment. 48,300 miles are displayed on the 5-digit odometer, which has rolled once according to the seller.

A number of gallery photos illustrate the condition of the interior seating surfaces, door panels, and carpeting. The A/C system was converted to run on R134 refrigerant in 2016, and the seller notes a slow evaporator leak that results in the system needing a recharge every 12 months with the most recent recharge occurring in August of this year.

The 400ci V8 equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor was the largest engine available in the Cordoba, and was factory rated at 210 horsepower. A 3-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission sends the power to the rear wheels through a Sure-Grip differential. Maintenance completed in preparation for the sale included an oil/filter change, chassis lube, and brake system inspection. The seller will also be including two extra carburetors, two Lean Burn computers, and several other spare parts.

Several photos are provided to illustrate condition of the chassis, underbody, and suspension components, with corrosion evident in a few areas. The seller notes that a few oil drips appear under the car when parked, but it reportedly does not affect oil level readings between fluid changes.
