This Pontiac Safari got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1976 Pontiac Grand Safari was purchased new from Murray Pontiac-Buick of New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, and the seller’s father reportedly acquired it from the original owner in 2006. Finished in two-tone Bavarian Cream and Light Buckskin over a beige interior, this example is powered by a 455ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Optional equipment includes air conditioning, a power tailgate, cruise control, a towing package, a third-row bench seat, three-point front seatbelts, and a luggage rack. This Bonneville-based Grand Safari is offered on behalf of the seller’s father with a factory build sheet, a dealer invoice and other paperwork from the 1976 sale, spare parts, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s father’s name.

The car is finished in two-tone Light Buckskin with a Bavarian Cream top (65L 50U), and exterior options include chrome trim, accent stripes, a luggage rack on the roof, front and rear bumper guards, and blue-tinted Soft Ray glass. The tow-hitch receiver and associated seven-pin wiring connector are pictured in the gallery below, which also includes close-ups of various exterior imperfections.

The power-operated Glide-Away clamshell rear opening features glass that retracts up into the roof, while the lower tailgate slides into a cavity below the cargo floor, either manually or via power assist. A pair of replacement taillights and a replacement rubber gasket for the tailgate will accompany the vehicle and are pictured in the gallery.

The interior is trimmed in Buckskin vinyl (64V) with matching side trim, and a sheepskin cover for the power front bench seat is included in the sale. The seller reports that the AM/FM stereo is inoperable and the air conditioning does not blow cold. Additional optional amenities include cruise control, power locks, a front-facing third-row seat, and three-point front seatbelts. The seller notes that the driver-side shoulder belt needs to be reattached to the B-pillar.

A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a factory Rally gauge cluster. The five-digit odometer shows just over 63k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added during current ownership. A trailer-brake controller is mounted beneath the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel.

The 455ci V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and an optional heavy-duty alternator, and the seller states that the oil was changed in 2018. The engine-pad stamping shows a serial number that matches the vehicle’s chassis number. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.
