This Datsun 280Z got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1977 Datsun 280Z was initially delivered to Bales Motor Co. of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and is said to have been purchased by the current owner in 1978. Finished in Light Blue over black vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a vented hood, a rear window defroster, chrome impact bumpers, power-assisted brakes, 14″ wheels, air conditioning, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. Maintenance performed in preparation for the sale reportedly included changing the oil and flushing the coolant and brakes. This 280Z is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a window sticker and a clean Kentucky title.
The car is finished in Light Blue (305) and features a vented hood, chrome trim, aftermarket side mirrors, side body moldings, and rubber bumper overriders. The seller notes that the hood was repainted in 1979 to repair scratches.
Silver-finished 14″ wheels are mounted with Delta Grand Prix Tour tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension as well as power-assisted brakes that were reportedly flushed in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl, and woodgrain trim accents the color-coordinated door panels. Amenities include a heater, a wood shift knob, a rear-window defroster, rubber floor mats, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. The carpets are stained and the glovebox is cracked.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears a tan cover and frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles, and approximately 121k miles have been added under current ownership. The odometer is said to have rolled over once, and true mileage is unknown.
The 2.8-liter L28 inline-six features Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 170 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. Maintenance performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included flushing the radiator and changing the oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes chassis rust on the left side between the front wheel well and the center of the car and recommends repairs prior to driving the car.
