This Mercury Marquis & Grand Marquis got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis is a two-door hardtop that was initially delivered to Barr Motor Company of Butler, Missouri, before being acquired from the first owner by the seller in January 2021. The car is finished in two-tone Cream and Medium Gold over gold leather and cloth upholstery, and it is powered by a 460ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes 15″ wheels, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, power windows and door locks, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a factory AM/FM radio. Work under current ownership included a carburetor overhaul and brake refurbishment along with replacing the shocks, rear coil springs, fluids, and ignition components. This Grand Marquis is now offered at no reserve with a window sticker, an Elite Marti report, partial service records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Cream (6P) with a Medium Gold (6V) hood, roof, and lower bodywork. Exterior features include retractable headlight covers, rear fender skirts, dual exhaust outlets, a power antenna, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Noted flaws are shown in the gallery and include rock chips, dings, and pitting chrome on the bumpers.
Polished 15″ wheels are said to have been installed under current ownership and are mounted with Vogue Custom Built Radial VII tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The brake master cylinder and booster were replaced following the seller’s acquisition along with the steel lines, rubber hoses, pads, shoes, shocks, and rear coil springs.
The seats are upholstered in gold leather with patterned cloth inserts and are accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes cruise control, a power-adjustable driver seat, and a factory AM/FM radio. The air conditioning system is inoperative.
The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and fronts a horizontal-sweep 85-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles and is believed to have rolled over once. Approximately 1k miles were added under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
The 460ci V8 was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 353 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a C6 three-speed automatic transmission and a rear axle with 2.50:1 gears. The carburetor was rebuilt under current ownership, a dual exhaust system was installed, the ignition components were replaced, the oil and coolant were changed, and the thermostat was replaced.
Corrosion is noted on the underside as well as oil leaks from the engine and transmission.
The window sticker and Elite Marti report show colors, equipment, and initial delivery to Barr Motor Company of Butler, Missouri.
