1978 Ford F-150 Ranger 4×4 4-Speed

This 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger is a single-cab Styleside pickup that is finished in two-tone metallic brown and powered by a replacement 400ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Additional equipment include the Ranger XLT, Convenience, and Handling Packages as well as power steering, a sliding rear window, and air conditioning. The truck was sold new in Spokane, Washington, where it was acquired by the seller from its longterm previous owner in summer 2020. Subsequent maintenance included fluid changes, servicing the brakes, and replacement of the battery. This 4×4 Dentside is offered with a Deluxe Marti Report and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The truck was finished in Dark Brown Metallic over Cinnamon Glow from the factory, and was repainted in 1989 according to the seller. Details include chrome bumpers and a sliding rear window as well as a bright aluminum grille and beltline trim.

Polished 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 31″x10.50″ Goodyear Wrangler tires. The truck is equipped with power-assisted steering and brakes, the latter of which are said to have been serviced in May 2020. A walk-around video is provided by the seller.

The cab houses a bench seat trimmed in Saddle cloth with brown vinyl sides as well as matching carpets and faux wood accents. Equipment includes the Convenience Group, air conditioning, and a push-button AM/FM radio.

A two-spoke steering wheel frames instruments including an 85-mph speedometer and an ammeter along with gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles.

The 400ci V8 is said to have replaced the stock 300ci straight-six in 1986, and was serviced with fluid changes and a new battery in May 2020 according to the seller.

Power is routed through a four-speed manual transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and two 3.50:1 differentials. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
