1979 Datsun 280ZX 5-Speed

Sold for $10,500 on 4/29/19

This 1979 Datsun 280ZX is finished in Silver Mist Metallic over 2-tone black vinyl and powered by a 2.8L inline-six coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The seller acquired the car roughly a year and a half ago from the believed-original owner, and a subsequent refurbishment included new suspension components, seat upholstery, an engine tune-up, and more. This S130 is offered with a factory tool kit, jack and spare wheel, and a clean South Carolina title in seller’s name.

The body was reportedly refinished under previous ownership. The seller states the underbody has been undercoated, and new tail light gaskets and a new antenna were fitted during reassembly.

The factory 14″ wheels wear Falken tires sized 205/70 all around. During the refurbishment, the seller states the car received new shocks, axle seals, brake pads, a master cylinder, rear rotors, and a resurfacing of the front rotors.

The interior was also removed and the floor coated with POR-15. Reassembly took place with new carpets, two-tone seat upholstery, door panels, a dash cap, under dash heater unit, and a console with with a custom armrest.

Instrumentation includes a 130-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a dual-level fuel gauge. The 5-digit odometer displays just under 45k miles and is believed to have rolled over once.

The 2,753cc L28E inline-six is equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory-rated at 135 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Servicing reported by the seller includes:
