1979 International Harvester Scout II 4×4

This 1979 International Harvester Scout II is finished in orange with white Rallye-style graphics over brown vinyl and black plaid cloth upholstery and is powered by a 345-cubic-inch V8 paired with an automatic transmission. A Traveltop removable hardtop with a roof rack is fitted and additional equipment includes power steering, chromed 15″ steel wheels, manually-locking front hubs, cruise control, a push-button AM/FM radio, and an electric clock. The seller acquired the truck in 2020 and subsequent work consisted of replacing the spark plugs. This Scout II is now offered with a line setting ticket, hand-written service records, the manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s wife’s name.

The truck is finished in orange with white Rallye-style graphics. Details include a black-finished front bumper, dual side mirrors, and a Traveltop removable hardtop with sliding side windows and a roof rack. The rear bumper is missing. Rust repairs and repainting were performed on the rear fenders above the wheels, the passenger side rocker panel, and the surface between the top and the body, according to the seller. There is rust on the left rocker panel and body wedges.

Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wear 235/75 General Grabber AT2 tires. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and power steering, and power-assisted drums handle braking.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in black plaid with brown vinyl accents which extend to the door panels. The left front seat cover is torn. An engine-turned aluminum panel is mounted below the dashboard and equipment includes a floor-mounted shifter, an electric clock, a push-button AM/FM radio, cruise control, and rubber floor mats. The air conditioning compressor is operational but does not produce cold air.

The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a horizontal-sweep 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The odometer indicates 72k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 345ci V8 is equipped with a single Weber carburetor and International script valve covers. The spark plugs were replaced under current ownership, and the seller notes that the engine smokes on start-up after sitting for some time. The engine drips oil.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The transmission drips fluid. A replacement exhaust system has been fitted.

The line setting ticket, hand-written service records, and the manufacturer’s literature accompany the vehicle.
