1979 Jeep CJ-7 3-Speed

This 1979 Jeep CJ-7 is powered by an AMC 304ci V8 linked to a three-speed Borg-Warner T150 manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Finished in turquoise over gray vinyl upholstery, it is equipped with a gray Bimini top, a body-color roll bar, a center console, an Audiovox AM/FM/cassette stereo, polished 15″ wheels, 33″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, Warn manually locking front hubs, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and tubular exhaust headers mated to a side-exit dual exhaust system. The truck was acquired in 2021 by the seller, who reports that ignition components were subsequently replaced along with battery, and rear seat belts were installed. This CJ-7 is now offered with removable soft doors, spare parts, and a Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The Jeep left the factory finished in Firecracker Red (6P) and was refinished in its current shade of turquoise with black bumpers and wheel arch extensions under previous ownership. Equipment includes a gray Bimini top, a body-color roll bar, polished mirror caps and hood latches, bright rocker panel moldings, and dual tailpipes that exit in front of the rear tires. Paint flaws and other exterior blemishes are shown up close in the gallery.

Polished 15″ wheels are mounted with 33×12.5″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM tires. The truck has a lifted suspension, dual steering dampers, and Warn manually locking front hubs. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The power steering gearbox was replaced in 2021 according to the seller, who notes that the right-front shackle and the parking brake cable need to be replaced.

The front bucket seats, rear bench, and center console are upholstered in gray vinyl. Interior details include a baseball shift knob, a black dash pad, Rugged Ridge all-weather floor mats, a heater, and an Audiovox AM/FM/cassette stereo. Three-point seatbelts are noted up front, and rear seatbelts were installed during current ownership along with a replacement ignition switch and lock cylinder.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a body-color dashboard panel with a centrally mounted 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for battery voltage and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 41k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

Rated at 119 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque when new, the AMC 304ci V8 has an Edelbrock air cleaner, polished valve covers, and tubular exhaust headers. The fuel tank, ignition coil, starter solenoid, and battery are said to have been replaced since 2021. The seller notes that the engine has difficulting starting when cold.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed Borg-Warner T150 manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Corrosion is noted on underside components.

The Georgia title has a “Mileage Exceeds Mechanical Limits” notation.
