1979 Lincoln Continental Collectors Series

This 1979 Lincoln Continental Collector’s Series sedan is finished in blue over a matching cloth interior and powered by a 400ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-colored coach roof, 15″ cast-aluminum turbine wheels, an aftermarket Kenwood CD stereo, power-adjustable Comfort Lounge front seats, concealed headlights, automatic climate control, a CB radio, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. The car was acquired by the seller in August 2021 and subsequent work reportedly consisted of an oil change and replacing the radiator, belts, and hoses. This Continental is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, shop manuals, a tool kit, a Marti Report, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The car is said to have been repainted in Midnight Blue Metallic by the previous owner and features gold pinstripes. Additional exterior details include a gold-finished vertical grille insert, concealed headlights, cornering lights, an automatic power antenna, and a color-keyed coach vinyl roof. The seller notes three marks in the coach roof vinyl covering.

Aluminum 15” color-keyed turbine wheels wear Lincoln center caps and are mounted with 225/75 Nexen NPriz AH5 whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and the Sure Track braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The seller notes the tires were replaced in 2019.

The power-adjustable Comfort Lounge front seats are covered in Midnight Blue Kasman II cloth and faux wood trim accents the dashboard and door panels. Equipment an in-dash Cartier clock, automatic climate control, a factory 40-channel CB radio, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. The trunk is lined with deep pile carpeting. The factory radio does not work, and an aftermarket Kenwood CD stereo has been installed in the glovebox. The rear seat is faded near the rear shelf, and the seller states that the air conditioning system has been converted to use R134a refrigerant.

The steering wheel features cruise control functions and frames a horizontal 85-mph speedometer and fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, approximately 50 of which have been added by the seller.

The 400ci V8 breathes through a two-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 159 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. The seller states an aluminum radiator was installed, the oil was changed, coolant was flushed, and the belts and hoses were replaced in September 2021. The removed radiator is included in the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed C6 automatic transmission. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below. The seller notes that Ziebart rust proofing was applied to the underbody.
