This Volkswagen Super Beetle got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is finished in Lemon Yellow paint over a tan interior and is powered by a 1600cc flat-four engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states that he purchased the car from the original owner, and has added 1k miles over his 11 year ownership. 8k total miles are shown and the seller believes that to be accurate, though there is no paperwork to support it for certain. Recent mechanical refurbishments include giving the car a tune up and fresh spark plugs, and replacing the muffler, tail pipe, and fan belt. This final-year Super Beetle convertible comes with its original owner’s manual and service manuals, and is now being offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Produced from 1971 to 1979, the Super Beetle had rounder fenders, a larger hood, and a redesigned front valance. This 1979 model was the final year of the Super Beetle convertible.
The Lemon Yellow paint is pictured up close and from a variety of angles in the gallery. This car is riding on factory steel wheels with Mastercraft 165R15 tires, and the front and rear brake shoes and seals were recently replaced.
The interior is trimmed in tan vinyl with faux wood accents on the dash, and retains the factory 4-spoke steering wheel. The car currently indicates 7,729 miles on the odometer and the seller states that both the 12 volt AM/FM radio and VDO clock are in working order. The seller notes that the engine has just been given a tune up and fresh spark plugs. Other mechanical refurbishments include a new muffler and tail pipe, and a new fan belt. The car does not have a catalytic converter, so the seller says it will not pass California smog testing in its current form.
